A powdered target food that feeds SPS and LPS corals, zoanthids and other filter feeders directly, without clouding the water. Ocean Nutrition Reef Pulse is a fine marine-protein powder built from copepods, krill, squid and fish proteins, sized from 5 to 400 microns so both large-polyp corals and fine small-polyp species can take it. It's dosed by dissolving a measured amount in tank water and delivering it straight to the colony, and comes in 10 g, 60 g and 120 g jars to suit tanks of different sizes.

Key features
  • Broad-spectrum marine protein blend — copepods, krill, squid, fish proteins, yeast, artemia nauplii, mussels, marine fish eggs and marine microalgae in one powder.
  • Fine particle range (5–400 microns) — coarse enough for large-polyp feeders, fine enough for small-polyp corals and zoanthids from the same jar.
  • Two feeding methods — target-feed individual colonies with a pipette, or broadcast-feed the whole system.
  • Does not cloud the water when dosed as directed.
  • Three jar sizes — 10 g, 60 g and 120 g — so a nano reef and a large display tank aren't buying the same size.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for SPS corals (including Acropora, Montipora, Seriatopora, Stylophora and Pocillopora), LPS corals (including Euphyllia and Scolymia), zoanthids, and soft corals such as Xenia, Clavularia and Anthelia. Also suits tube worms and other filter feeders.

Not a fish food and not formulated for grazing fish, shrimp or hermit crabs — those are better served by a flake, pellet or algae sheet. Not intended as the sole coral feeding regime for a tank; it's designed to be dosed alongside normal husbandry, not to replace it.

Feeding and dosing directions

Target feeding

Mix ¼–1 teaspoon of Reef Pulse into 100 ml of tank water. Turn off filtration, skimmer and circulation pumps, then deliver the mixture directly onto the target coral with a pipette or turkey baster. Restart equipment once the food has been taken up.

Broadcast feeding

Mix ¼–1 teaspoon into 500 ml of tank water per 400 L of system volume. Turn off filtration and skimmer, pour the mixture into the tank, and restart equipment 10–15 minutes later.

Do not exceed 1 teaspoon per 400 L of system volume per day. Most reefers dose 2–3 times a week rather than daily.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. Refrigeration is not required. Reseal the jar firmly after each use to keep moisture out.

Warranty and delivery

Sold with the consumer guarantees that apply under Australian Consumer Law. This is a shelf-stable dry product with no cold-chain requirement and ships with standard freight.

Common questions

Will Reef Pulse cloud my tank water?

No — it's formulated to disperse and be taken up by corals without clouding the water when dosed at the recommended rate.

Can I use Reef Pulse on SPS and LPS corals in the same tank?

Yes. The powder's particle size ranges from 5 to 400 microns, which covers both the fine feeding structures of SPS corals and the larger polyps of LPS species.

Do I need to turn my pumps off to feed it?

Turning off filtration, the skimmer and circulation for the feeding window is the manufacturer's directed method for both target and broadcast feeding, so the food isn't pulled out of the water column before corals can take it up.

How often should I dose Reef Pulse?

Most reefers dose 2–3 times a week, capped at 1 teaspoon per 400 L of system volume per day.

What size jar do I need?

The 10 g jar suits a nano or small reef being dosed occasionally; the 60 g and 120 g jars suit larger systems or more frequent dosing schedules where a small jar would run out quickly.
