Red Sea MAX Nano Thin Mesh Filter 225 Micron (2)
The right filter bags for your MAX Nano — genuine Red Sea, twin pack. These 225 micron thin-mesh filter bags are sized for the Red Sea MAX Nano's rear filter chamber, using the monofilament mesh construction Red Sea fits across its MAX and REEFER ranges, and polish fine particulate out of the water before it returns to the display.
Key features
- Genuine Red Sea part — sized for the MAX Nano's rear filter chamber and standard 4" (10 cm) filter bag holder.
- 225 micron monofilament mesh — fine enough to polish the water column, coarse enough to rinse clean rather than clog solid.
- Twin pack — rotate one bag in service while the other is rinsed and drying, so the display is never left unpolished.
- Keeps the rear chamber tidy — traps free-floating particulate before it can settle and break down into nitrate.

Will it fit my tank?
Sized for the Red Sea MAX Nano's rear filter chamber. Red Sea uses the same 225 micron mesh and the same standard 4" (10 cm) bag holder across its current REEFER and MAX-S ranges, so the bag also fits those chambers — check your holder size against the packaging if you're fitting it outside a MAX Nano.
Care and maintenance
Rinse every few days under running water, turning the bag inside out to flush trapped debris. A loaded filter bag stops polishing the water and starts feeding nitrate back into the tank as the trapped waste breaks down — rinsing little and often beats leaving it until it's visibly dirty. Replace when the mesh no longer rinses clean or shows signs of tearing.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Red Sea's manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
How often do I need to replace these?
Red Sea doesn't publish a fixed replacement interval — with regular rinsing, a well-cared-for bag lasts months. Replace sooner if the mesh tears or stays clogged after rinsing.
Can I use one bag while the other is being cleaned?
Yes — that's the point of the twin pack. Keep one in the chamber and one rinsed and drying, then swap.
Does this fit the MAX Nano XL?
The MAX Nano XL uses the same 225 micron mesh filter sock as part of its rear chamber, but check your unit's bag holder size before ordering, as chamber dimensions differ across the MAX Nano range.
Goes well with
Pairs with the Red Sea MAX Nano's REEF-SPEC activated carbon and the MAX Nano Stand for a fully stocked service kit.
