Red Sea REEFER G3 Aquarium System S-700

The largest rectangular system in the REEFER G3 range, sold as tank, cabinet and sump only – everything that turns on or filters is your choice. The Red Sea REEFER G3 Aquarium System S-700 is a 699 L reef-ready platform: a 150 × 68 × 65 cm, 19 mm ultra-clear euro-braced display on a matching marine-spec cabinet, feeding a 135 L REEF-SPEC sump through Red Sea's redesigned G3 flow system. This is the base package – no lighting, no return pump, no skimmer, no heater – for reefers who already own that equipment, are upgrading from an older Red Sea system, or want to choose their own gear rather than take a bundled package.

Key features
  • 699 L across display and sump – a 564 L, 150 × 68 × 65 cm display over a 135 L sump, sized for a serious mixed-reef or SPS-leaning system.
  • 19 mm ultra-clear, euro-braced glass – at this size Red Sea reinforces the rim with euro-bracing, standard on G3 models from 425 L up.
  • Redesigned G3 flow system – Red Sea states the G3 downflow and return piping deliver up to 50% more circulation than the previous generation, at lower energy use.
  • ReefGate flow valve – a purpose-built gate valve on the downpipe for fine, near-silent flow adjustment, new to G3.
  • ReefATO+ built in – automatic top-off with a titanium water-level sensor, an integrated thermometer and leak detection ships as standard, not as an add-on.
  • ReefMat-ready sump – the mechanical filtration chamber accepts an optional Red Sea ReefMat automatic fleece roller without modification.
  • Slide-out equipment panel – a pull-out shelf in the cabinet for mounting controllers and dosing gear out of sight.
What's included
  • REEFER G3 S-700 rimless display aquarium, 19 mm ultra-clear euro-braced glass
  • Matching marine-spec cabinet in your choice of black or white
  • REEF-SPEC glass sump with pre-installed plumbing and the ReefGate flow valve
  • Mechanical filtration media – micron filter socks and media cups
  • ReefATO+ automatic top-off system, with water-level sensor, thermometer and leak detector
  • Slide-out equipment control panel

Not included: return pump, protein skimmer, heater, lighting, wave/circulation pumps, the ReefMat fleece filter itself (the sump is only pre-fitted to accept one), and aquascaping rock, sand or livestock. Nothing about this listing implies a complete, plug-and-play system – you're buying the display, cabinet and sump, and choosing the rest.

Which REEFER do I need?

The S-700 is Red Sea's "Supersized" rectangular line, not the Peninsula range – it has a single centre overflow and a conventional front-viewing footprint, not the dual-viewing-side layout of a REEFER Peninsula. Inside the standard REEFER G3 range (170 to 300, covered on our other REEFER G3 pages), the largest is the 300 at 301 L total. The S-700 more than doubles that, at 699 L, and suits a keeper who wants SPS-scale water volume and stability without moving to a Peninsula or MAX system. If you want lighting, a pump and a skimmer included rather than chosen separately, look at a REEFER G3 Deluxe or REEFER MAX G3 listing instead – the S-700 is deliberately sold as the platform alone.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for: an experienced reefer building or upgrading a large mixed-reef or SPS system, who already owns (or is buying separately) a DC return pump, protein skimmer, heater and lighting matched to a 564 L display.

Not suitable for: a first marine tank, or anyone expecting a plug-and-play system out of the box – this listing has no pump, skimmer, heater or light, and the tank will not cycle or support livestock until that equipment is fitted.

Setting it up

Because no return pump is included, sizing one to the sump's plumbing is the first decision – Red Sea's own ReefRun G2 DC pump range is built to pair with REEFER sumps and is controllable through the same ReefBeat app as the ReefATO+ unit. A skimmer sized for 699 L sits in the sump's dedicated chamber; Red Sea's own Reefer DC Skimmer range is designed for the same footprint. Lighting is a separate decision entirely – REEFER G3 Deluxe packages ship with ReefLED G2 fixtures, and the same fixtures and mounting arms are sold individually for a base package like this one.

Care and maintenance

The mechanical filtration chamber takes standard micron filter socks or media cups – expect to rinse or replace these weekly depending on bioload, more often while a new tank is settling in. The ReefGate valve occasionally needs a small adjustment as flow resistance changes with a growing aquascape; it's a manual valve, not a moving part that wears. The ReefATO+ sensor should be wiped free of salt creep periodically, the same as any water-level sensor, to avoid false top-off readings.

Safety

At roughly 1,062 kg filled with water alone, before rock, sand or equipment, this is a structural-load item. Confirm your floor can carry the weight at that footprint before installation, and get a qualified professional to check if you're above ground level or on a suspended floor. All electrical equipment you add (pump, heater, lighting, skimmer) should be run on 240 V AU-approved supplies with an RCD, and mains connections should sit above the water line with a drip loop.

Goes well with
Warranty and delivery

Red Sea covers the aquarium and cabinet for 36 months from purchase, extendable to 5 years total at no cost if you register within 90 days – Australia is an eligible market for the extension. The extended term covers the structural integrity of the glass and cabinet only; ReefATO+ and any electronics you add carry their own manufacturer warranty, typically 24 months. These terms are in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which are not limited or excluded by them. Given the size and weight of this system, delivery is a freight item – get in touch before ordering to confirm access, unloading and any two-person delivery requirements for your address.

Common questions

Does the REEFER G3 S-700 include a return pump?

No. The S-700 is sold as the display, cabinet and sump only. Red Sea's ReefRun G2 DC pump range is designed to pair with REEFER sumps and is sold separately.

Is a protein skimmer included?

No. The sump has a dedicated skimmer chamber sized for the S-700's bioload, but the skimmer itself – including Red Sea's own Reefer DC Skimmer range – is a separate purchase.

Does this come with lighting?

No. This is the base S-700 package, not a Deluxe bundle. ReefLED G2 fixtures and mounting arms are sold separately and sized to the tank's 150 cm span.

What's the difference between this and the REEFER Peninsula S-700?

This S-700 is Red Sea's rectangular "Supersized" line, with a single centre overflow and conventional front viewing. The REEFER Peninsula S-700 is a different product on a different footprint, built for room-divider placement with viewing from more than one side – check the handle or model name carefully before ordering, as both share the "S-700" size designation.

Is the ATO included?

Yes – ReefATO+ ships as standard on every REEFER G3 model, including this base S-700 package. Only the external top-up water reservoir is left for you to supply.
