Red Sea REEFER G3 DELUXE Aquarium System 170

The entry point into the REEFER G3 range, with the light already fitted. The Red Sea REEFER G3 Deluxe Aquarium System 170 is a 165 L rimless reef system – a 128 L display on a matching cabinet, over a 37 L sump – with one ReefLED G2 115 and its mounting arm included, along with Red Sea's built-in ReefATO+ auto top-off. It's the smallest footprint in the current G3 line-up, suited to a first serious reef build or a second tank where floor space is tight.

Key features
  • 165 L total, on a 59.9 × 50.0 cm footprint – a 128 L rimless display over a 37 L sump.
  • 1 × ReefLED G2 115 fixture and mounting arm included – 115 W, roughly 500 PAR at the surface falling to around 150 PAR at 50 cm, tunable white spectrum, rated to 60 cm maximum water depth.
  • ReefATO+ built in – automatic top-off with a titanium water-level sensor, integrated thermometer and leak detection, standard on every G3 model, not just Deluxe.
  • Redesigned G3 sump – REEF-SPEC, ReefMat-ready, with a dedicated skimmer chamber and a bubble-trap labyrinth ahead of the pump draw.
  • Rimless, ultra-clear glass – beveled-edge front panel for a clean, frame-free view.
  • Pre-glued sump plumbing – the downpipe, return line and ReefGate flow valve arrive assembled; no gluing on setup.
What's included
  • REEFER G3 170 rimless display aquarium
  • Marine-spec cabinet in your choice of black or white
  • REEF-SPEC glass sump with pre-glued plumbing and ReefGate flow valve
  • 1 × ReefLED G2 115 LED fixture with mounting arm
  • ReefATO+ automatic top-off system, with water-level sensor, thermometer and leak detector
  • Mechanical filtration media (filter socks and media cups)

Not included: return pump, protein skimmer, heater, the ReefMat fleece filter itself (the sump is only pre-fitted to accept one), any additional controller hub, and aquascaping rock, sand or livestock. "Deluxe" here means the light is included – it does not mean the tank is plug-and-play out of the box.

Which REEFER G3 do I need?

All four current REEFER G3 sizes share the same sump architecture, ReefGate valve and ReefATO+ system – the differences are footprint, volume, and how many ReefLED G2 115 fixtures the Deluxe package includes.

Model Footprint (L × W) Display / overall height Display volume Total volume Sump volume ReefLED included (Deluxe)
REEFER G3 170 59.9 × 50.0 cm 51.1 cm / 136.9 cm 128 L 165 L 37 L 1 × ReefLED G2 115
REEFER G3 200 59.9 × 57.4 cm 53.1 cm / 140.0 cm 158 L 200 L 42 L 1 × ReefLED G2 115
REEFER G3 250 89.9 × 50.0 cm 53.1 cm / 140.0 cm 203 L 245 L 42 L 2 × ReefLED G2 115
REEFER G3 300 89.9 × 57.4 cm 55.1 cm / 142.0 cm 247 L 301 L 57 L 2 × ReefLED G2 115

The 170 keeps the same 59.9 cm footprint length as the 200 but is 7.4 cm shallower front-to-back – it's the pick when floor depth, not length, is the constraint, or when you want the smallest possible entry into the current G3 generation. If depth isn't the limit and you'd rather have the extra 34 L of water volume for more stocking headroom, the 200 is the same footprint length for a modest step up in price and light output.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for: a first serious reef build, or a compact second system, where a rimless tank, built-in ATO and one properly specified light matter more than sheer water volume.

Not suitable for: anyone expecting a complete plug-and-play kit – you'll still need to source a return pump and, if you want mechanical filtration beyond a filter sock, a skimmer or a ReefMat.

Care and maintenance

Rinse or replace the sump's micron filter socks weekly, more often while the tank is cycling. The ReefLED's fan intake should stay free of salt dust – wipe it down during routine maintenance. The ReefATO+ sensor benefits from an occasional wipe to prevent salt creep causing false top-off readings.

Safety

Run the ReefLED, ATO pump and any equipment you add on 240 V AU-approved supplies with an RCD, and keep mains connections above the water line with a drip loop. At 275 kg filled with water alone, before rock and sand, confirm your stand or floor is rated for the load at this footprint.

Warranty and delivery

Red Sea covers the aquarium and cabinet for 36 months from purchase, extendable to 5 years total at no cost if you register within 90 days – Australia is an eligible market. That extension covers the structural integrity of the glass and cabinet only; the ReefLED and ReefATO+ carry their own 24-month manufacturer warranty. These terms sit in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which are not limited or excluded by them. As a large glass and cabinet item, this ships as a freight delivery – confirm access and unloading arrangements with us before ordering.

Common questions

Does the REEFER G3 Deluxe 170 include a return pump?

No. Red Sea's own operation manual recommends a ReefRun G2 4000 DC pump for this sump, sold separately.

What does "Deluxe" mean on this listing?

It means one ReefLED G2 115 light and its mounting arm are included. It does not include a return pump, skimmer or heater – those are the same across both the standard and Deluxe G3 170.

Is the auto top-off included?

Yes. ReefATO+ ships standard on every REEFER G3 model, including this one. You'll need your own top-up water reservoir for it to draw from.

How is the 170 different from the 200?

Same 59.9 cm footprint length, but the 200 is 7.4 cm deeper front-to-back and holds 34 L more in total – pick the 170 where floor depth is the constraint.

Can I fit a bigger light than the included ReefLED G2 115?

Yes, the mounting arm accepts other Red Sea ReefLED models, but the 115 is already sized for this display's 50 cm width – most owners add a second 115 later for even coverage rather than swap up.
