Red Sea Reefwave 45 Controller
Restores full ReefBeat app control after a failed or damaged controller. The Red Sea ReefWave 45 Controller (genuine part R35241) is the wired control unit for the ReefWave 45 gyre pump. It sets wave mode, intensity and the pause/feed function locally, and links the pump to the ReefBeat app over your home Wi-Fi. It fits the ReefWave 45 only — the ReefWave 25 uses a different controller, part R35230.
Key features
- Genuine Red Sea part — the factory-fit controller for the ReefWave 45, not a generic substitute.
- Five built-in wave modes plus manual intensity and pause/feed control, usable without an app connection.
- Wi-Fi enabled for full scheduling, ramping and remote control through the ReefBeat app.
- Wired DC connection to the pump and power supply — not a wireless add-on.

Compatibility and fitment
This controller is specific to the ReefWave 45 and connects by a fixed DC cable to the pump housing and the ReefWave 45 power supply (part R35242). It does not fit the ReefWave 25, which uses its own controller, part R35230 — the two pumps are not interchangeable.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for an existing ReefWave 45 whose controller has failed, cracked or stopped responding while the pump itself still runs. Not the fix for a pump that has stopped moving water altogether — check the motor assembly (R35243) and power supply (R35242) first, since a dead pump is more often one of those two than the controller.
Care and maintenance
Mount the controller clear of splash zones and fit a drip loop on the DC cable before it enters the cabinet or stand. Red Sea's manual notes that most ReefWave electronics failures trace back to water tracking down a cable rather than a fault in the unit itself.
Goes well with
Pairs with the ReefWave 45 Power Supply (R35242) if the two have failed together, and with the Service Pack (R35255) if the pump is also due for its annual impeller and rotor service.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Red Sea's manufacturer warranty on genuine spare parts, in addition to your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a small parcel item at standard freight.
Common questions
Will this work on a ReefWave 25?
No. The ReefWave 25 uses a different controller, part R35230, and the two are not interchangeable.
Do I need any tools to fit it?
No. The controller connects to the pump and power supply by a plug-in DC cable — no tools are required.
Can I still run the pump without a Wi-Fi connection?
Yes. The controller runs its five built-in wave modes and manual intensity control locally. Wi-Fi is only needed for ReefBeat scheduling, ramping and remote monitoring.
How do I know if it's the controller and not the pump that's failed?
If the pump moves water on its last saved setting but won't respond to button presses or the app, the controller is the likely fault. If the pump doesn't move water at all, check the motor assembly and power supply first.
