ReefControl Grounding Probe
Neutralises stray voltage before it reaches your reef. The Red Sea ReefControl Grounding Probe is a titanium-tipped earthing probe that plugs into the dedicated grounding port on a ReefControl Power unit, draining stray electrical current from aquarium water so it can't build up around pumps, heaters and other submerged equipment. It suits any reef or marine system already running ReefControl Power that isn't otherwise earthed through a grounded power outlet.
Key features
- Titanium tip — fully corrosion-resistant in saltwater, so the probe doesn't degrade or add metal ions to the tank over time.
- Weighted design — keeps the tip submerged in the sump or display without needing a separate holder.
- Dedicated ReefControl Power port — plugs straight into the grounding socket on ReefControl Power 6 and ReefControl Power 6 Deluxe, no rewiring required.
- Reduces probe noise — a properly grounded tank gives cleaner, more stable pH, ORP and salinity readings from ReefSense probes, since stray voltage is a common source of drift and jitter.

Fits
Designed for Red Sea ReefControl Power 6 and ReefControl Power 6 Deluxe, which carry the matching grounding port. Red Sea's official ReefControl Power/Deluxe manual lists this part as R35828. Red Sea has not published a cable length for it — if you need that figure confirmed before ordering, ask us and we'll check with Red Sea directly.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for any marine or reef system running ReefControl Power that is not already earthed through a grounded power point. Not a replacement for correct electrical installation — it addresses stray voltage in the water, not faults in your home wiring.
Safety
Run all connected equipment through an RCD-protected circuit. A grounding probe reduces stray voltage in the tank water but does not replace proper earthing of your electrical installation — if you're getting a noticeable shock from tank water, have your wiring checked by a licensed electrician as well as fitting this probe.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Red Sea's manufacturer warranty, in addition to your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a small item at standard parcel rates.
Common questions
Do I need this if my tank already feels fine?
Stray voltage is often imperceptible until it affects probe readings or, in rare cases, gives a mild tingle when hands are in the water — fitting the probe is inexpensive insurance either way if you're running ReefControl Power.
Will it work without ReefControl Power?
It's designed to plug into ReefControl Power's dedicated grounding port. Red Sea's own materials note it can also be connected to a grounded outlet, but the ReefControl Power port is the intended setup.
Does it need calibration or maintenance?
No calibration is needed. Rinse the titanium tip during routine maintenance if it picks up algae or coralline growth, which won't affect its function but can make it harder to see.
