Seachem Stressguard 100ml
Calms stressed fish and helps torn slime coats heal. Seachem StressGuard (100 mL) is a liquid additive dosed straight into aquarium water to ease the stress of handling, transport, netting and disease, while supporting the fish's own slime coat and skin repair.
Most of the moments StressGuard is useful for turn up without warning – a fish gets netted awkwardly, a tank needs an emergency move, or a course of medication needs support alongside it. Buying it after the fact usually means a day or two of avoidable stress on the fish while the bottle is in transit.
Key features
- Eases handling and transport stress – dose when netting, bagging, moving or introducing new fish, and during any period of visible stress.
- Supports slime coat repair – helps fish rebuild the protective mucous layer damaged by netting, disease or poor water quality.
- Works alongside medication – safe to dose during a treatment course to reduce the stress load on an already-unwell fish.
- Fresh and saltwater – one bottle covers both setups.
- Treats water for about 1.8c per litre at the standard daily dose – see Specifications.

Dosage and directions
Use 2.5–5 mL (1/2 to 1 capful) for every 40 L of water, daily, until signs of stress resolve or healing is complete. The dose can be safely doubled where stress is severe. Add directly to the aquarium, or to new water before a water change.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for freshwater and saltwater fish of all kinds, including during handling, transport, new introductions and disease treatment. Not a substitute for a dechlorinator – use alongside a conditioner such as Seachem Prime when adding new tap water, not in place of one.
Goes well with
Pairs with Seachem Prime for new water, and with Seachem Stability when setting up a new tank or introducing fish to an established one.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Seachem's standard quality guarantee in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard freight – no cold chain or special handling required.
Common questions
Can I use StressGuard every day?
Yes. It's designed for daily dosing during a stressful period – a house move, a new arrival, or a course of medication – and can be safely doubled if stress is severe.
Will it cure disease on its own?
No. StressGuard supports the fish's own healing and reduces stress load; it isn't a medication and doesn't replace a targeted treatment for a specific disease.
Can I use it with other Seachem products?
Yes. It's commonly dosed alongside Prime and, during treatment, alongside a course of medication.
Is it safe for invertebrates?
Seachem doesn't publish an invertebrate-safety claim for StressGuard specifically – where shrimp or other invertebrates are present, dose cautiously and monitor.
