Vectra S2 Pump (Mobius)
Move sump water quietly and dial in the flow without swapping pumps. The EcoTech Marine Vectra S2 (Mobius) is EcoTech's current-generation controllable DC return and circulation pump, built around the newer Mobius magnetic drive and wireless out of the box for EcoSmart Live and ReefLink control. It replaces the earlier Vectra S2 Centrifugal Pump as EcoTech's standard S2-class unit, and is sized for cabinet sumps and small-to-mid systems rather than large plumbing galleries.
Key features
- Mobius magnetic drive – EcoTech's current drive technology, fitted as standard on this S2 rather than the older centrifugal design still selling alongside it while stock clears.
- Wireless built in – connects straight to EcoSmart Live without a separate ReefLink module, so flow sits in the same app as Radion lighting and VorTech wavemakers.
- 25 mm inlet, 19 mm outlet – sized for standard sump plumbing on tanks in the S2's flow class.
- Compact footprint – 98.4 mm x 165.4 mm, small enough for a typical cabinet sump chamber.
- QD quiet-drive technology – EcoTech markets this as near-silent running; no independent decibel figure is published for this model.

Performance at head height
EcoTech publishes two figures for this pump: 5,300 L/h (1,400 GPH) at zero head, falling to zero flow at 3.5 m (11.5 ft) of head. EcoTech does not publish the flow rate at the head heights in between, so we're stating the two confirmed endpoints rather than drawing a curve we can't verify. As a rough guide, expect a noticeable drop from the rated 5,300 L/h once real sump lift, elbows and a return manifold are accounted for. If your installation has more than about a metre of real lift, size up to the Vectra M2 rather than assume this pump holds its headline number.
Why isn't there a full head curve here?
Because EcoTech hasn't published one for this model. We'd rather say that plainly than publish a graph we can't stand behind.
Which Vectra do I need?
The Vectra range covers three sizes. This S2 is the entry point; the M2 and L2 step up in flow and head for larger sumps and systems.
| Model | Max flow | Max head | Inlet / outlet | Footprint |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vectra S2 (Mobius) | 5,300 L/h (1,400 GPH) | 3.5 m (11.5 ft) | 25 mm / 19 mm | 98.4 x 165.4 mm |
| Vectra M2 | ~7,570 L/h (2,000 GPH) | 6.5 m (21.5 ft) | 32 mm / 25 mm | 114.3 x 190.5 mm |
| Vectra L2 | ~11,735 L/h (3,100 GPH) | 6.5 m (21.5 ft) | 38 mm / 32 mm | 127 x 215.9 mm |
The M2 and L2 currently listed are EcoTech's earlier centrifugal-drive units, not the Mobius drive fitted to this S2 – check with us before assuming parts are interchangeable between them.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: sump return lines and internal circulation on freshwater and marine systems within the S2's flow and head range, cabinet-mounted sumps with 25 mm plumbing, and EcoSmart Live systems already running Radion or VorTech.
Not suitable for: installations needing more than around a metre of real sump lift plus fittings – step up to the Vectra M2. This is a plumbed return pump, not a submersible in-tank powerhead.
What's included
The Vectra S2 (Mobius) pump head, wireless out of the box for EcoSmart Live – no separate ReefLink module required.
Not included
Plumbing fittings, unions and any reducers your sump layout needs – size them to the 25 mm inlet and 19 mm outlet.
Running costs
At its maximum published draw of 72 W, run continuously this pump uses roughly 631 kWh a year – about $189 annually at a 30c/kWh tariff. Most systems run below maximum flow day to day, so actual draw and cost are usually lower than this ceiling figure.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by EcoTech Marine's manufacturer warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a standard parcel; no special freight handling applies.
Goes well with
- VorTech MP40QD wavemaker – pairs return flow from the S2 with in-tank circulation patterning; commonly run together on reef systems in this size range.
Common questions
Does the Vectra S2 (Mobius) need a separate ReefLink to go online?
No. Wireless connectivity for EcoSmart Live is built into this Mobius-driven S2, unlike some earlier EcoTech pumps that needed an add-on module.
Is this the same pump as the Vectra S2 Centrifugal Pump also listed on this site?
No. This is the newer Mobius-drive S2, which is replacing the older centrifugal-drive S2 as EcoTech's standard model. Both are listed while remaining stock of the older unit sells through.
What's the real-world flow once head is accounted for?
EcoTech only publishes the rated 5,300 L/h at zero head and the 3.5 m point where flow reaches zero, not the curve in between. Expect a noticeable drop from the headline figure once sump lift, elbows and a manifold are added.
Will this fit a standard sump cabinet?
At 98.4 mm x 165.4 mm it's sized for a typical cabinet sump chamber rather than a large external plumbing gallery.
Can I run this on a freshwater system?
Yes. The Vectra S2 isn't marine-specific and is also used on freshwater sumps.
