Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable as the night heat source for snakes, geckos and other reptiles where the room drops too cold overnight, paired with a daytime basking bulb. Not a daytime light or a UVB source. If you want heat with no light at all, a ceramic heat emitter is the usual choice.
Safety
Runs hot. Use a fixture with a ceramic socket rated for the wattage, keep the bulb out of the animal's reach with a guard, and run it through a thermostat with a thermometer at the warm end.
