Zoo Med Stainless Steel Feeding Tongs 10"

Feed precisely, and keep your fingers out of the strike zone. Zoo Med's Stainless Steel Feeding Tongs are 25 cm (10") long, built from solid stainless steel with a textured grip surface that holds live and thawed food without slipping. They're made for hand-feeding reptiles, amphibians and birds, and work equally well for offering food to aquarium fish and invertebrates at a safe distance.

Key features
  • 25 cm (10") stainless steel construction — long enough to keep your hand clear of a defensive or food-driven animal, and won't rust or corrode with regular water contact.
  • Strong grip surface — holds insects, worms, pinkies and thawed foods securely so nothing drops halfway to the animal.
  • Multi-species use — reptiles, amphibians and birds on land, and — used underwater — marine triggerfish, marine invertebrates, large cichlids and aquatic turtles.
  • More hygienic than hand-feeding — keeps food, and any bite, off your fingers.
  • Easy to clean — rinse and dry after each use; stainless steel won't pit or stain the way cheaper metals do.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for target-feeding insects, worms, greens, pinkies and thawed meat or fish to reptiles, amphibians and birds, and for offering food to aquarium fish, invertebrates and aquatic turtles. Not designed as a general aquascaping tool — for planting or substrate work, use dedicated aquascaping tweezers instead.

Care and maintenance

Rinse in clean water and dry after each feed. Avoid dishwasher detergents with strong chlorine content, which can dull the finish over time.

Safety

Keep tips away from eyes when feeding defensive species — some snakes and monitors will strike at the tongs rather than the food.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Zoo Med's standard manufacturer warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Common questions

Are these safe to use in a saltwater aquarium?

Yes — stainless steel resists corrosion in both fresh and marine water, which is why they're also sold for hand-feeding marine fish and invertebrates.

Will my snake bite the tongs instead of the food?

It can happen with strongly food-driven or defensive snakes, which is exactly why the extra length matters — keep the tongs, not your hand, at the business end.

Can I use these to plant live terrarium plants?

They'll work in a pinch, but they're built to grip food rather than manipulate substrate or root live plants — a dedicated planting tool does that job better.

How do I stop them rusting?

Rinse and dry them after each use. Stainless steel resists rust, but standing residue left on the surface can still leave marks over time.
