Bioscape Tectona Coral Driftwood

Intricate, coral-like driftwood sold by the box. Bioscape Tectona Coral Driftwood is a genuinely low-tannin natural hardwood with a fine, branching structure that mimics coral heads and root tangles – a detailed centrepiece for aquascapes, shrimp tanks, terrariums and paludarium builds, sold as a 10 kg box of mixed natural pieces.

Key features
  • Fine, coral-like branching structure – mimics coral heads and root tangles rather than a single straight branch.
  • Genuinely low in tannin – won't tea-stain the water the way many driftwoods do while settling in.
  • Every piece unique – natural growth means size, shape, colour and weight vary piece to piece; photos are representative, not exact.
  • Sold as a 10 kg box – enough material for a substantial hardscape or several smaller aquascapes.

Will it fit my tank?

Sold by box weight rather than a fixed piece count, so the structure you get depends on how the pieces are shaped and how densely you arrange them. Lay pieces out dry before committing to a placement, and expect some variation between one box and the next.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for freshwater aquascapes, shrimp tanks, paludariums and terrariums. Not intended for reef or marine tanks – Bioscape doesn't market Tectona wood as marine-safe, and driftwood generally isn't used in reef displays.

Care and maintenance

Rinse each piece under running water to clear dust before placing it. Being low in tannin, Tectona wood typically needs less pre-soaking than darker driftwoods, but a short soak still helps it waterlog faster and settle on the substrate. If a piece floats, weigh it down temporarily until it takes on water.

Warranty and delivery

Sold as a natural product, so variation in size, colour and shape is expected rather than a defect. Contact us if a box arrives damaged or doesn't match the weight ordered – covered under your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Common questions

Will it discolour my water?

Less than most driftwood – Tectona is genuinely low in tannin, though a light, temporary tint is still possible in the first weeks with any new wood.

Does it float when first added?

It can, since it hasn't waterlogged yet. Weigh it down against the substrate until it stays put on its own – usually within a week or two.

Is it safe for shrimp and fish?

Yes – Bioscape markets Tectona wood as safe for fish and other freshwater tank inhabitants.

How much do I need for my tank?

That depends on your scape. This is sold as a 10 kg box of mixed pieces rather than a fixed quantity per tank, so buy based on the footprint and density of hardscape you're planning. If you only need a small amount, Bioscape Tectona wood is also sold per kilogram.
