Fluval 07 Impeller Cover 207

A 207 that has been noisy since its last clean usually needs this.

This is the genuine Fluval impeller cover, part A20133, for the 207 canister filter. It caps the impeller well underneath the motor head and holds the impeller and its ceramic shaft in line with the pump housing. When the cover cracks or its locating tabs give up, the impeller runs slightly off-centre — which costs flow and makes a noise most people mistake for a failing motor.

Key features
  • Genuine Fluval A20133 — published for the 207 alone. Its bore and tab positions differ from the 107 cover despite the two filters looking alike.
  • Cures the tapping noise — an unsupported impeller strikes the housing once per revolution. Locating it correctly is what makes a 207 quiet again.
  • Saves the ceramic shaft — the cover carries the shaft's outer end. Run without it and the shaft, bushings and housing all wear at once.
  • Protects the 460 L/h circulation figure — a misaligned impeller cannot deliver the published flow, so this is a performance part as much as a quiet-running one.
  • Hand-fitted — twist-locks into the well, no tools and nothing to lubricate.

Position in filter Closes the impeller well on the underside of the motor head
Sold as Single cover
Water type Freshwater and marine

Will it fit my filter?

This is the part most often ordered wrong in the 07 range. The 107 and 207 share a 19 x 18 cm footprint and both draw 10 W, so people reasonably assume the pump internals match. They do not.

Filter Impeller cover part number Same as the 207?
Fluval 107 A20113 No
Fluval 207 A20133 Yes — this part
Fluval 307 A20148 No
Fluval 407 A20148 No

A20133 fits the 207 and nothing else. The 107 takes the A20113 cover, and the 307 and 407 both use the A20148 cover — the only shared cover in the range. Fluval does not list A20133 for the earlier 205 or 206.

Which impeller cover do I need?

Read the model number on the motor head. Canister height is not a reliable guide between the 107 and 207.

Filter Aquarium capacity Filter circulation Cover
107 40–130 L 360 L/h A20113
207 60–220 L 460 L/h A20133 (this part)
307 90–330 L 780 L/h A20148
407 150–500 L 930 L/h A20148

The 207 is published at 780 L/h pump output and 460 L/h filter circulation, with a maximum head of 1.45 m and a draw of 10 W at 230–240 V. Circulation is the loaded-media figure and the one worth sizing against.

What's included
  • 1 x impeller cover for the Fluval 207

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for a 207 whose cover has cracked, gone brittle, lost a locating tab, or been dropped down the back of the cabinet during a service. Also the first part to try on a 207 that has been noisy since a clean.

Not suitable for the 107, 307 or 407, or for the 205 and 206. It will not quieten a filter whose noise comes from trapped air in the head, a worn ceramic shaft, or a chipped impeller vane, so check those while the head is open.

Care and maintenance

Fluval's interval for the impeller well is every three months. Remove the cover, lift the impeller, and brush the well and vanes clean.

Inspect the cover on each service. Look at the tabs first — they are the part that fails, and a cover with a broken tab will seem to fit while allowing the impeller to lift under load.

Refit dry. Silicone grease on the shaft bore holds grit against the ceramic and shortens the shaft's life.

Warranty and delivery

Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Fluval does not quote a separate warranty term on moulded service parts. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. Ships as a standard small parcel anywhere in Australia.

Common questions

Will the Fluval A20133 impeller cover fit a 107?

No. The 107 uses A20113. The two filters share a canister footprint and a 10 W pump rating but not the impeller cover, which is why this part is so often ordered incorrectly.

Do the 307 and 407 use this cover?

No. The 307 and 407 both take A20148, the only impeller cover shared between two models in the 07 range. A20133 is specific to the 207.

Why has my 207 got noisy since I cleaned it?

Either the cover was not twisted fully home, a locating tab has broken, or air is trapped in the motor head. Refit the cover first and tilt the canister to purge air before assuming the pump has failed.

Does this cover include the impeller?

No. This is the cap that closes the impeller well. The impeller, its ceramic shaft and the rubber bushings carry a separate Fluval part number and are bought separately.

Will a new cover restore my flow rate?

It will if the old one was cracked or not locating, because an off-axis impeller moves less water. If the cover is sound, look at loaded foam or a blocked intake strainer instead.
