Fluval 307/407 Motor seal
The single gasket that keeps the motor head watertight under pressure.
This is the genuine Fluval motor head gasket, part A20064, for the 305/405, 306/406 and 307/407 canister filters. It's the seal that sits between the motor head and the canister body, and it's usually what's failing when a filter weeps from under the clips rather than from a hose joint. Fluval lists this one gasket against six models across three generations.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval A20064 — the O-ring style gasket that seals the motor head to the canister body.
- Fits six models across three generations — 305, 405, 306, 406, 307 and 407 all share the same gasket.
- The most common source of a weep at the lid, not the hose joints — a compressed or torn gasket lets water seep from under the clips even when the hoses are sound.
- Cheap to keep spare — worth replacing on a schedule rather than waiting for a leak to show up.

It does not fit the 304/404 or the 05 Series (105/205, 106/206, 107/207) — those use a different motor head profile. Check the model code on your filter's rating label if you're not sure which you have.
What's included
- 1 x motor head gasket
Not included
- The motor head clips.
- The canister body.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a weep or drip from under the motor head clips, a gasket that's gone flat, hard or visibly compressed after years of clamping, or as a precaution during any motor head rebuild.
Not suitable for the 304/404 or the 05 Series — different motor head profile, different gasket.
Care and maintenance
Replace this gasket every second or third media service even if it looks fine — compression set is invisible until the seal actually fails. Seat it evenly in its groove all the way around before closing the clips; a gasket that's twisted or riding up on one side will still leak even though it looks correctly fitted.
Goes well with
- Rubber hose adapter, 2 pack — worth doing at the same service if you're already inside the filter
- 306/406 intake stem and strainer — check for cracking while the filter is apart
Warranty and delivery
Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. No separate manufacturer warranty term is quoted on rubber service parts. Ships as a standard small parcel anywhere in Australia.
Common questions
My filter is dripping from under the motor head clips — is this the part I need?
Almost certainly. A weep from under the clips, rather than at a hose joint, points to the motor head gasket rather than a hose adapter.
Does A20064 fit the 307 and 407 as well as the 305 and 306?
Yes. Fluval lists the same gasket against 305/405, 306/406 and 307/407.
How often should I replace it?
Fluval doesn't publish a fixed interval, but replacing it every second or third media service is cheap insurance against compression set.
Will it fit my Fluval 304?
No. The 304/404 use an earlier motor head profile with a different gasket.
