Fluval AC70/110 Clear Carb Insert 2 Pack

Combines carbon with phosphate and nitrate control in one insert. This is the genuine Fluval Clear-Carb insert for the AquaClear AC70 and AC110 power filters, sold as a 2-pack. It blends activated carbon with Clearmax resin, so one insert does the work that would otherwise need carbon and a separate phosphate or nitrate media.

Key features
  • Activated carbon plus Clearmax resin — carbon handles odour and discolouration; the resin targets phosphate, nitrite and nitrate.
  • Reduces water changes needed for nutrient control — useful where phosphate is driving algae growth.
  • Fits AC70 and AC110 — one product covers both filter sizes.
  • Two to a pack — a spare on hand for the next scheduled swap.

Will it fit my filter?
Filter Aquarium size Takes this insert
AquaClear AC70 150–265 L Yes
AquaClear AC110 227–416 L Yes
Which chemical media do I need?
Insert What it targets
Activated Carbon Odour, discolouration, dissolved organics
Clear-Carb The above, plus phosphate, nitrite and nitrate

Clear-Carb is the better choice where algae driven by excess phosphate or nitrate is the main concern. Plain activated carbon is enough where odour and clarity are the only issue.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for the AquaClear AC70 and AquaClear AC110, freshwater or marine. Not a biological media — the foam and BIOMAX stages still handle mechanical and biological filtration.

Care and maintenance

Replace every 4 weeks. Both the carbon and the resin have a finite capacity, and a spent insert can release what it has absorbed back into the water.

Supplied as genuine Fluval filter media. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. Ships as a standard small parcel anywhere in Australia.

Common questions

What's the difference between Clear-Carb and plain activated carbon?

Clear-Carb adds Clearmax resin alongside the carbon, which targets phosphate, nitrite and nitrate as well as odour and discolouration.

Does Clear-Carb fit both the AC70 and AC110?

Yes, the same 2-pack fits both filter sizes.

How often should I replace it?

Every 4 weeks, in line with other chemical filter media.

Will Clear-Carb affect my biological filtration?

No. It only performs chemical filtration — the BIOMAX stage handles the biological side independently.
