Will it fit my filter?
This is Fluval's genuine part A246, and it fits the following FX-series canister filters:
- Fluval FX2
- Fluval FX4
- Fluval FX5
- Fluval FX6
It does not fit Fluval's 07-series or G-series canister filters, which use differently shaped polishing pads.

When to use these
Add a polishing pad on top of your existing biological and mechanical media whenever the water looks hazy — after gravel cleaning, a substrate change, or a deep clean of the canister itself. They are a finishing layer, not a replacement for biological media, and get discarded once they've done the job rather than rinsed and reused.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for any FX2, FX4, FX5 or FX6 owner who wants sparkling water after maintenance, or who is troubleshooting persistent haze. Not suitable as a stand-alone filter medium — these pads have negligible biological capacity and won't cycle a tank on their own.

Common questions
Can I rinse and reuse these pads?
They can be rinsed once in tank water if only lightly soiled, but the fine weave clogs quickly and most aquarists treat them as a consumable, replacing rather than reusing.
Will these fit my Fluval FX4?
Yes. The FX2, FX4, FX5 and FX6 share the same top basket and polishing pad shape, so one part number covers all four filters.
How often should I change them?
There's no fixed interval from Fluval — use one whenever you want a clarity boost, typically after maintenance or a cloudy-water event.
Do I need these for normal operation?
No. Your FX-series filter runs perfectly well on its standard foam and biological media; these pads are an optional polishing step.
