Hikari Fancy Guppy Pellets-22g
A colour-and-breeding pellet sized for guppies, not goldfish. Hikari Fancy Guppy Pellets is a semi-floating, protein-rich granule developed specifically for guppies and other small livebearers, formulated to support growth, breeding condition, colour development and immune health. Two to three light feedings a day is all it takes.
Key features
- Semi-floating pellet – stays in the water column rather than sinking straight to the substrate, giving guppies time to find it.
- Softens without dissolving – becomes sponge-like in water instead of falling apart and clouding the tank.
- High protein, high fat – min. 50% protein and min. 8% fat, aimed at breeding condition and growth.
- Colour and immune support – astaxanthin and garlic are named in the ingredient declaration.
- Won't cloud water when fed as directed – Hikari's own claim, provided uneaten food is removed.

Feeding directions
Feed two to three times a day, offering only what your fish will fully consume within about a minute. Remove any pellets left uneaten rather than letting them break down in the tank. This is a diet, not a medicated treatment, so it carries no copper and is fine to feed in mixed community tanks that include invertebrates.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: all types of guppies, other livebearers such as mollies and platies, and other small tropical fish able to take a fine pellet.
Not suitable for: fry too small to take a pellet – use a powdered starter food such as Hikari First Bites until fry are large enough to graduate onto pellets.
Storage
Store the pouch sealed in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Reseal firmly after each use to keep moisture out, and stop feeding from a batch if it develops an off smell or visible mould.
Goes well with
- Seachem Prime – a water conditioner worth dosing at every water change in a guppy breeding tank.
- API Stress Coat – supports slime coat recovery after netting fish for grading or breeding tanks.
- API Freshwater Master Test Kit – keeps an eye on ammonia in a heavily-stocked guppy tank.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law in addition to any manufacturer undertakings. Ships as a standard, ambient-stable grocery item.
Common questions
Will this cloud my water?
Hikari states it won't, provided it's fed as directed and any uneaten pellets are removed rather than left to break down.
Can I feed this to fry?
Not straight away – the pellet is sized for adult and juvenile guppies. Very young fry need a powdered starter food like Hikari First Bites until they can manage a pellet.
Does it float or sink?
Neither exactly – it's semi-floating, staying in the water column and slowly sinking rather than dropping straight to the substrate.
Is it reef or invertebrate safe?
It's a freshwater livebearer diet rather than a reef product, but it carries no copper or medicated additives, so it's fine alongside freshwater shrimp and snails.
