Hikari Sinking Massivore Delite 380g

An extra-large sinking pellet for the biggest predatory fish in the tank. Hikari Massivore Delite is sized for red-tailed catfish, freshwater "sharks", bichirs, eels and large carnivorous plecos — fish that outgrow every standard sinking pellet on the market.

The pellet absorbs water and softens quickly after it hits the tank, taking on a texture closer to live or fresh food than a typical dry pellet, which helps get reluctant predators started on a manufactured diet.

Key features
  • Extra-large 24.5–25.0 mm sinking pellet — sized for fish that other sinking foods are simply too small for.
  • 47% minimum crude protein — built for large, fast-growing carnivores.
  • Softens and absorbs water on contact — takes on a texture that resembles live food, improving acceptance by predators reluctant to eat dry pellets.
  • Krill meal and fish meal base — a scent and flavour profile aimed at strongly carnivorous feeders.
  • Astaxanthin and canthaxanthin included — support natural colour in species that carry red and orange pigmentation.

Feeding directions

Feed once a day, an amount your fish will fully consume within a few minutes. Because the pellet absorbs water and softens rapidly, mimicking a splash at the surface can help trigger a feeding response in a carnivore that is used to live food and ignores a still pellet at first. Remove uneaten food promptly — a pellet this size and protein level fouls water quickly if left to break down.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for: red-tailed catfish, freshwater "sharks" (large predatory catfish sold under that common name), Polypterus (bichirs), eels, and large carnivorous Plecostomus species.

Not suitable for: community fish, small to mid-sized cichlids, or any fish that cannot physically take a 25 mm pellet — the size that makes this food work for giant predators makes it a choking risk for anything smaller.

Storage

Keep the pouch sealed and stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Reseal firmly after each feed.

Warranty and delivery

This product carries the consumer guarantees available under Australian Consumer Law. It ships as a standard parcel item — no special freight handling applies.

Common questions

Why is this pellet so much bigger than a normal sinking pellet?

It is sized specifically for the largest predatory freshwater fish, which outgrow standard cichlid and catfish pellets and need a proportionally larger bite.

My fish won't touch it — what do I do?

Try mimicking a surface splash to trigger a feeding response. Some predators raised on live food take a few feeds to accept any manufactured pellet, regardless of brand.

Will this pellet cloud the water?

Feeding an amount your fish clear in a few minutes, and removing any leftovers, keeps water quality stable. A pellet this size and protein level will foul water quickly if overfed.

Can I feed this alongside live or frozen food?

Yes. Many keepers use it to add variety alongside, rather than instead of, live or frozen feeding for large predators.

Goes well with

Hikari frozen foods, such as frozen prawn or bloodworm, for dietary variety in large predator tanks, and a robust mechanical filter to match the bioload of the fish this food suits.
