Insectivore Bottom Tablets
Food that goes straight to the floor crew. Insectivore Bottom Tablets are built around mealworm meal and black soldier fly larvae meal, pressed into a fast-sinking 5 mm tablet that reaches corydoras, loaches, plecos and other bottom dwellers before mid-water fish can intercept it. Available in 50 g and 150 g packs.
Key features
- Insect meal as the lead ingredient – mealworm and black soldier fly larvae meal, close to what bottom feeders eat naturally
- 5 mm fast-sinking tablet – reaches the substrate ahead of mid-water and surface feeders
- Spirulina and pea flour – plant matter alongside the insect and fish protein for omnivorous grazers
- 36% protein – balanced for scavenging bottom-dwellers rather than pure carnivores
- 50 g and 150 g packs – 150 g is the better per-gram buy for a regularly stocked tank

Feeding directions
Feed once or twice daily, offering only as much as fish can consume within a few minutes. Remove any uneaten tablet to protect water quality, and avoid overfeeding. Store the pack in a cool, dry place.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suits corydoras, loaches, catfish, plecos and other bottom-dwelling scavengers. Not intended as the primary diet for surface or mid-water fish – pair with a flake such as Insectivore Tropical Flake Food for the rest of the community.
Storage
Store sealed, in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Goes well with
Pairs with Insectivore Algae Wafer for tanks that also hold grazing plecos, and with a surface flake such as Insectivore Betta Insect Flakes or Insectivore Tropical Flake Food for mixed community tanks.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law in addition to any manufacturer undertakings. Ships as a standard, ambient dry good with no special freight handling required.
Common questions
Will mid-water fish eat the tablets before they reach the bottom?
They're formulated to sink fast, so most tablets reach the substrate before mid-water fish can strip them, though a very crowded tank may still intercept some.
Can I feed this to shrimp?
Shrimp will graze on softened tablet fragments, but it isn't a dedicated shrimp food – a shrimp-specific diet is better as their main food source.
How many tablets should I feed?
Start with one or two tablets per few bottom dwellers, once or twice a day, and adjust to whatever is cleared within a few minutes.
Does the 150 g pack work out cheaper than the 50 g pack?
Yes – the 150 g pack is the better value per gram for anyone feeding a bottom-dweller colony regularly.
