Life Rock Reef Tree Extension Kit
Not a starter kit - this adds height to a Reef Tree structure you already own. CaribSea Life Rock Reef Tree Extension Kit is a two-piece add-on for the Life Rock Reef Tree Kit and Reef Tree Arches Kit range. It includes two aragonite rock pieces, each roughly 20-30 cm (8-12 in) at the widest point, plus a short 13-18 cm (5-7 in) stabilising rod that continues the same predrilled joining system. Combined, the two pieces weigh approximately 4.5-5.5 kg (10-12 lb). On its own it is not a freestanding aquascape - it is designed to extend an existing base.

You'll still need, and this is the important part: a base structure to extend. This kit does not include a freestanding base and is not sold as a stand-alone aquascape - it is built to attach to a Life Rock Reef Tree Kit or Life Rock Reef Tree Arches Kit you already own, using the same rod-and-drill-hole system. It will not thread onto loose Life Rock Original or Life Rock Shapes pieces, which are not predrilled. You'll also still need sand or substrate and, optionally, aquascaping mortar for a permanent bond.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: owners of a Life Rock Reef Tree Kit or Arches Kit who want more height or a wider canopy without buying a second full kit.
Not suitable for: a first-time reef aquascape - buy the Life Rock Reef Tree Kit or Life Rock Reef Tree Arches Kit first, and add this once that base is in the tank. Not suitable for freshwater tanks.
Setting it up
- Rinse the pieces under tap water to clear shipping dust.
- Fit the short rod to the top of your existing Reef Tree or Arches Kit structure, then thread the two extension pieces on.
- Test the arrangement outside the tank before committing, since a taller structure changes the centre of balance.
- Add aquascaping mortar at the join if the extended structure needs to be permanently fixed against a boisterous fish.

Rock pieces are handmade and can be fragile in transit - inspect the box on arrival and photograph any breakage before use.
Common questions
Can I use this Extension Kit on its own, without a Reef Tree Kit?
Not as intended. It is two rock pieces and a short rod designed to attach to an existing Life Rock Reef Tree Kit or Arches Kit. Without a base to extend, it is not a self-supporting aquascape.
Will it fit any Life Rock base I already have?
It is built to the Reef Tree Kit and Reef Tree Arches Kit rod system specifically. It will not thread onto loose Life Rock Original or Life Rock Shapes pieces, which are not predrilled for a rod.
Do I need cement to attach it?
No. The rod-and-predrilled-hole system holds it in place. Cement or aquascaping mortar is optional, for a permanent bond only.
Does it need curing?
No. Like the rest of the Life Rock range, it is manufactured rather than reef-harvested, so there is no organic die-off to wait out - just rinse off shipping dust.
How much extra height does it add?
The two pieces run roughly 20-30 cm at the widest point each, so expect a meaningful but not dramatic increase over your existing structure - the exact gain depends on how you orient them.
