Red Sea NanoMat

The NanoMat is Red Sea's automatic fleece-roller filter that takes over from manual filter socks in nano and pico reef systems, winding on fresh fleece by itself as the old section clogs. It drops into the sock chamber on a Red Sea MAX NANO G2 or REEFER G2-series sump, or into any standard 4 inch filter sock holder, doing the same mechanical polishing job as a sock without the daily pull-rinse-refit routine.

Key features
  • Processor-controlled auto-advance — a built-in drive unit senses when the fleece has clogged and winds on a fresh section by itself, no app or internet connection involved.
  • Solid-state water-level sensors — no float arms or moving parts sitting in the water to gunk up or stick.
  • Auto shutdown — the unit stops advancing once the roll is spent instead of running dry and wasting what's left of it.
  • Two-button control with LED indicators — trigger a manual advance at the unit itself, no phone required.
  • Universal 4 inch sock adapter included — so it isn't locked to Red Sea's own systems.

Will it fit my sump?
System Fit
Red Sea MAX NANO G2 Direct drop-in for the factory filter sock
Red Sea REEFER G2 / G2+ / MAX G2+ Fits the sock chamber; larger REEFER MAX models may need more than one unit
Other sumps or AIO tanks with a standard 4 inch sock holder Fits with the included universal adapter, given roughly 41 cm of vertical clearance
Original pre-G2 Red Sea Max Nano, or any sump without a 4 inch sock holder Not a fit without modification
What's included
  • NanoMat drive unit, with sensor and control panel
  • Filter chamber body and inlet tray
  • One fleece roll, pre-loaded on its uptake and dispensing shafts
  • Universal 4 inch filter sock adapter ring
  • Power supply unit (100-240V auto-sensing)

Not included: a return pump, biological or chemical filter media of any kind, and spare fleece rolls beyond the one fitted at the factory. This is a mechanical polishing stage only, it replaces your filter sock, not your biological or chemical filtration, and it has no pump of its own.

Care and maintenance

A single fleece roll is good for roughly four weeks of service according to Red Sea's own distributor documentation, though this varies with bioload, flow rate and how dirty your tank runs. Keep a NanoMat Replacement Fleece Roll (2-pack) on hand so you're never caught out mid-roll, and wipe down the chamber and sensor at each change to stop salt creep interfering with the water-level sensing.

Safety

This is a mains-powered unit. Mount the power supply above the water line and out of any splash zone, and never operate it with a damaged cord or wet hands. The supplied power supply auto-senses 100-240V at 50/60Hz, so it runs on Australian 240V/50Hz power without a converter.

Warranty and delivery

This is a genuine Red Sea product, covered by Red Sea's manufacturer warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. Any manufacturer warranty applies in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which are not limited or excluded by it.

Common questions

Does the NanoMat include a return pump?

No. It's a gravity-fed mechanical filter stage that sits inline with your existing sump plumbing. Your return pump stays exactly where it is.

Does it handle biological or chemical filtration too?

No. The NanoMat only replaces the mechanical stage, your filter sock. Any bio media, carbon or GFO you run still needs its own spot in the sump.

How often do I need to change the fleece roll?

Roughly every four weeks under typical conditions, faster with a heavier bioload or higher flow. Worth keeping a spare 2-pack in the cupboard.

Will it work on Australian 240V power?

Yes. The included power supply auto-senses 100-240V AC at 50/60Hz, so it runs straight off Australian 240V/50Hz mains.
