Zoo Med Betta Plant Salvia

A clustered-leaf plastic plant that gives bettas somewhere to hide. The Zoo Med Betta Plant Salvia (BP-23) is a naturalistic plastic plant made for betta bowls and nano tanks. Its lifelike salvia-style leaf cluster adds depth and colour without needing substrate or lighting to stay looking green. It attaches to the glass with a built-in suction cup for easy placement.

Key features
  • Clustered leaves - a denser leaf cluster than a single-leaf design, giving more places for a betta to explore or rest.
  • Suction-cup mount - sticks directly to the glass, no gravel anchor needed.
  • Colourfast plastic - moulded plastic that does not yellow or die back like a live plant.
  • No upkeep - no dosing, trimming or CO2, just an occasional rinse.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for betta bowls, nano tanks and community tanks wanting a naturalistic, low-maintenance accent alongside live or other plastic planting. Not a substitute for a live, oxygenating plant, and not intended as a filter media anchor or for tanks with fish known to chew rigid plastic decor.

Care and maintenance

Rinse under lukewarm water when algae or biofilm builds up between the leaves. Zoo Med does not publish a fin-safety rating for this range. It is rigid moulded plastic rather than soft silk, so owners of long-finned betta varieties should check the leaf edges by hand before adding it to the tank.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Zoo Med's standard warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a standard parcel; no cold chain or special handling needed.

Common questions

How is this different to the Philo or Maple Leaf plant?

The Salvia has a denser cluster of smaller leaves, compared with the Philo's broad single leaves or the Maple Leaf's single leaf shape.

Does it need substrate to stay in place?

No. The built-in suction cup anchors to glass, so it works in a bare bowl with no gravel.

Can I use it in a planted tank with CO2 and dosing?

Yes. It is inert plastic and does not interact with CO2, fertiliser dosing or medication.

Is it safe for long-finned betta varieties?

Zoo Med does not publish a fin-safety rating for this item. Check the moulded leaf edges by hand before adding it to a tank with a long-finned betta.
