Aquavitro Intake Screen 17mm (10cm Long)
Keeps shrimp and fry out of the filter without choking the flow. The aquavitro Intake Screen is a surgical-grade stainless steel mesh guard that slips over a 17 mm filter intake pipe, sized to stop dwarf shrimp, fry and small fish being pulled in while still passing a full flow of water.

Will it fit my filter?
It fits any intake pipe measuring 17 mm outside diameter, not just the aquavitro-branded pipe it was designed alongside. Measure the pipe before ordering - a 13 mm version is also made for smaller pipes, though we don't currently stock that size.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: freshwater shrimp tanks, fry-raising and breeding setups, and any community tank where small fish are getting drawn towards the filter intake.
Not suitable for: pipes other than 17 mm - it won't grip or seal properly on the wrong diameter. The manufacturer lists this screen for freshwater use.
Care and maintenance
Slide it off at filter service time and brush or rinse off any build-up. A screen left to clog gradually chokes flow long before it looks obviously dirty, so check it whenever you service the filter rather than waiting for a visible flow drop.

Common questions
Will this fit my canister filter's intake pipe?
It fits any intake pipe of 17 mm outside diameter, whether it's the aquavitro-branded pipe or another filter's. Measure your pipe first, since the screen won't seat properly on the wrong size.
Can I use it in a marine or reef tank?
The manufacturer lists this screen for freshwater use. We haven't found a published marine rating for it, so if you're after intake protection for a reef sump, check with us before ordering.
Will it stop flow dropping over time?
It won't stop debris building up, but the mesh area is large enough that a light coating barely affects flow. Check it at every filter service so build-up doesn't get ahead of you.
Does it come with the intake pipe?
No. This is the screen only, sized to fit a 17 mm pipe you already have, whether that's the aquavitro intake pipe or another filter's own pipework.
