Fluval 07 Filter Canister Case 307
A cracked body ends a filter that is otherwise fine.
This is the genuine Fluval filter canister, part A20193, for the 307 external filter. At 7.3 L it is the second-largest body in the 07 range and carries a 4.5 L media stack – which is precisely why a 307 is worth rebuilding rather than throwing out. The motor head, baskets, hoses and AquaStop valve all transfer straight across to a new canister.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval A20193 – the 307 canister and only the 307. The rim diameter, clip lugs and basket footprint are moulded to that model.
- 7.3 L body, 4.5 L media chamber – full published capacity restored, so the filter still turns over its rated 90 to 330 L tank.
- Cheaper than the alternative – a 307 motor head, baskets and plumbing outlive the body by years. One moulding brings the whole unit back.
- Freshwater and marine – rated for both, with no material difference between the two uses.
- Ten-minute swap – two side clips, no tools, baskets lift straight over in their existing order.

Will it fit my filter?
Fluval publishes one canister part number per 07 filter. There is no shared body anywhere in the range, so the model number is the whole answer.
| Filter | Canister part number | Canister volume |
|---|---|---|
| Fluval 107 | A20183 | 3.9 L |
| Fluval 207 | A20188 | 5.3 L |
| Fluval 307 | A20193 | 7.3 L |
| Fluval 407 | A20198 | 9.2 L |
The 307 and 407 share their footprint at 24 x 18 cm and differ only in height, which is why people assume the bodies interchange. They do not – the 407 stands 49 cm assembled against the 307's 42 cm, and Fluval lists a separate part number for each. A20193 also does not fit the earlier 305 or 306.
Which canister case do I need?
The model number is moulded into the motor head. If the sticker has worn off, match on rated tank size.
| Filter | Aquarium capacity | Filter circulation | Canister case |
|---|---|---|---|
| 107 | 40–130 L | 360 L/h | A20183 |
| 207 | 60–220 L | 460 L/h | A20188 |
| 307 | 90–330 L | 780 L/h | A20193 (this part) |
| 407 | 150–500 L | 930 L/h | A20198 |
Filter circulation is measured with media loaded and is the figure to size a tank against. The 307's headline 1,150 L/h pump output is measured on an empty canister and will never occur in a working filter.
What's included
- 1 x filter canister body for the Fluval 307
Not included
Fluval supplies this as the replacement canister. Everything below has its own Fluval part number and is ordered separately.
- Motor head – see the 307 motor head.
- Media baskets and basket cover – the 307/407 basket cover is A20067.
- Motor head gasket – part A20064 on the 307 and 407, which is a different seal from the one used on the 107 and 207.
- AquaStop valve, ribbed hosing and intake stem – the AquaStop valve is A20062.
- Filter media.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a 307 body that has cracked, split at a clip lug, been dropped, or gone brittle after years in a warm cabinet. Also the right part when a 307 has been bought second-hand as a head and plumbing only.
Not suitable for the 107, 207 or 407, for the 305 or 306, or for any FX series canister. It will not cure poor flow, which on a 307 is almost always clogged foam, a blocked intake strainer or air trapped in the impeller well.
Care and maintenance
A filled 307 canister is heavy and awkward, so lift it out of the cabinet before emptying rather than tipping it in place. Dropping a full body onto a cabinet floor is the most common way these crack.
Rinse in tank water at each service, wipe the sealing rim dry, and keep detergents and hot water away from it. Both attack the plastic and cause brittleness at the clip lugs.
Goes well with
- 307 impeller with ceramic shaft – fit while the filter is apart and the noise problem is solved for years
- 07 case clips – tired clips let the head lift under pressure
- 307/407 impeller cover (A20148) – the other part that gets damaged in a drop
- Bio-Foam MAX – new foam for the rebuilt filter
Warranty and delivery
Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Fluval does not quote a separate warranty term on moulded service parts. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. Ships as a standard parcel anywhere in Australia.
Common questions
Will the Fluval A20193 canister fit a 407?
No. The 307 and 407 share a 24 x 18 cm footprint but not a height, and Fluval publishes A20193 for the 307 and A20198 for the 407. The bodies are not interchangeable in either direction.
Does A20193 include the media baskets?
Fluval lists A20193 as the replacement filter canister, meaning the outer body. The baskets, the A20067 basket cover and the motor head all carry separate part numbers and are ordered individually.
Can I fit a 307 canister to a Fluval 306?
Fluval lists A20193 against the 307 only. Treat the 06 and 07 canisters as different parts, even though several smaller components such as the A20039 impeller shaft are shared between the two generations.
My 307 leaks at the top. Is the canister the problem?
Check the A20064 head gasket and the sealing rim first. A leak at the head joint is a seal or a debris problem far more often than a cracked body, and both of those are cheaper to fix.
Do I need to re-cycle the tank after fitting a new canister?
No, provided you move the existing biological media across in tank water and do not let it dry out or sit in chlorinated water. The bacteria live on the media, not on the canister walls.
