Vortech MP40 Foam Guards Pack of 3
A powerhead that can move thousands of litres an hour can just as easily pull in a fish that swims too close. This genuine EcoTech Marine pack of three foam guards fits the VorTech MP40 wet side across all generations, plus the earlier MP20w, screening the propeller from fish, shrimp and coral fragments while still passing full flow.

- Fits all MP40 generations – and the earlier MP20w wet side, shaped to a 3" tapering to 2¾" intake.
- Protects livestock – keeps fish, shrimp and coral frag off-cuts away from the propeller blades.
- Screens debris – reduces food particles and detritus reaching the intake.
- Pack of 3 – enough spares for one or two replacement cycles.

Suitable for any VorTech MP40 wet side and the earlier MP20w. Not sized for the MP10 or MP60 – order the guard pack made for those wet sides instead.

Care and maintenance
How often should the guard be replaced?
Replace it once it's visibly compressed, torn or clogged with algae. EcoTech doesn't publish a fixed interval, so check it at each routine pump clean.

Common questions
Does this fit the older MP40w as well as the new MP40QD?
Yes – it's shaped for the MP40 wet side shared across all driver generations, and also fits the earlier MP20w.
Will it fit my MP10 or MP60?
No – those pumps use a different wet-side diameter. Order the MP10 or MP60 foam guard pack for those units.
Will the guard noticeably reduce flow?
No – it's an open-cell foam designed to pass full flow while screening out fish, shrimp and coral fragments.
