A VorTech that spins up rough or won't hold a wide flow range is often fighting the wrong magnetic gap, not a failing motor. This genuine EcoTech Marine thickness spacer fits between the MP40 dry-side driver and the tank wall, taking up the extra distance on aquarium glass 6 mm thick or thinner so the internal rotor and external driver couple with the correct magnetic strength.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for MP40 installations on aquarium glass 6 mm thick or less, where the standard driver spacing leaves the magnetic coupling too loose. Not the correct spacer for glass over 6 mm – use the thin spacer instead – and not designed for MP10 or MP60 drivers.

How do I know if I need the thick or thin spacer?
Measure your aquarium glass. Under 6 mm calls for this thick spacer; 6–13 mm calls for the thin spacer.
What happens if I use the wrong spacer?
The magnetic coupling will be too loose or too tight for your glass thickness, which can show up as a rough, noisy or unstable-running pump.
Does acrylic use the same spacer sizing as glass?
The spacer is sized by wall thickness rather than material, so measure the actual tank wall thickness rather than assuming glass figures apply.
