Zoo Med Betta Play Tube

A swim-through tunnel that gives bettas something to explore. The Zoo Med Betta Play Tube (BP-50), also sold as the Betta Tunnel, is a soft plastic tunnel that attaches inside a betta habitat. Positioned about an inch under the water surface, it lets a betta rest on top as well as swim through, encouraging exploration, exercise and other natural behaviours. It is sold in green, orange or pink, assorted at random.

Key features
  • Swim-through design - lets a betta swim through the tunnel or rest on top of it, just under the water surface.
  • Behavioural enrichment - gives a betta mental and physical stimulation by encouraging natural exploring behaviour.
  • Repositionable - move it around the tank occasionally to keep the enrichment value up.
  • Stacks with more tunnels - use several together to build a swim-through course.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for betta bowls, nano tanks and community tanks where enrichment and exploration cover is wanted. Not intended as a breeding cave or fry shelter, and Zoo Med does not publish sizing guidance for tankmates other than bettas, so check tunnel diameter suits any other fish sharing the tank before relying on it as their shelter too.

Care and maintenance

Rinse under lukewarm water when algae or biofilm builds up inside the tunnel. Reposition it every so often, as Zoo Med suggests, to keep it interesting for the fish rather than becoming background furniture.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Zoo Med's standard warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a standard parcel; no cold chain or special handling needed. Colour is assigned at random from green, orange and pink and cannot be requested.

Common questions

Where should I position it in the tank?

Zoo Med recommends positioning it about an inch below the water surface, so the betta can rest on top of the tunnel as well as swim through it.

Can I use more than one?

Yes. Zoo Med suggests using multiple tunnels together to build a swim-through course and increase the enrichment value.

Can I choose the colour?

No. It ships in green, orange or pink, assigned at random.

Will it work in a community tank, not just a betta bowl?

Yes, it is not betta-specific hardware, though it is sized and marketed around betta behaviour and Zoo Med does not publish fit guidance for larger fish.
