Zoo Med Hygrotherm

One controller that holds both temperature and humidity to a target, day and night. The Zoo Med Hygrotherm switches a connected heater (or cooler) and a connected humidifier on and off independently to hold your terrarium at the levels you set, and drops the temperature setpoint automatically after dark using its built-in light sensor. It replaces running a separate thermostat and a separate humidity controller with one unit and one remote sensor.

Key features
  • Combined control – one unit runs both a heating (or cooling) device and a humidifying device from two independent switched outputs.
  • Wide range – controls temperature from 10°C to 50°C (50°F–122°F) and humidity from 15% to 95% RH.
  • Automatic night drop – a built-in photocell lowers the temperature setpoint after dark, without you needing a separate timer.
  • 2-in-1 remote sensor – a single combined temperature/humidity probe on a 1.5 m (5 ft) cable, so you don't run two separate probes into the enclosure.
  • High/low alarm and memory retention – alerts you if temperature or humidity strays outside range, and keeps your settings through a power outage.
  • Heat or cool – the heating output can also run a cooling fan in COOL mode for warm-climate setups.
Specifications
Spec Detail
Combined maximum load 1000 W across both outputs together
Temperature control range 10°C – 50°C (50°F – 122°F)
Humidity control range 15% – 95% RH
Sensor 2-in-1 remote temperature/humidity probe, 1.5 m (5 ft) cable
Outputs 2 independent switched sockets – one for heating/cooling devices, one for humidifying devices

As with all mains-powered reptile gear sold in Australia, this unit is wired for our 220–240 V, 50 Hz household supply.

What's included
  • Hygrotherm controller unit
  • 2-in-1 remote temperature/humidity sensor with 1.5 m cable
Not included
  • Heat source (heat mat, heat lamp or ceramic heat emitter)
  • Humidifying device (Zoo Med Repti Fogger or Repti Rain misting system)
Suitable for, and not suitable for
  • Suitable for terrariums that need both temperature and humidity held to a target – many tropical and rainforest species.
  • Suitable for pairing with Zoo Med's Repti Fogger or Repti Rain misting system on the humidity output.
  • Not a heat source or a humidifier on its own – it switches devices you supply, it doesn't generate heat or moisture itself.
  • Not intended to power two heating devices at once on a single output beyond the combined 1000 W rating.
Safety

Match the total wattage of everything you plug into each output to the controller's rating. Have the unit and connected heating devices on an RCD-protected circuit. Keep the sensor probe positioned at animal level, away from direct contact with a heat source, for an accurate reading.

Care and maintenance

Keep the probe clean and check its cable periodically for wear, particularly where it passes through a vent or enclosure wall.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Zoo Med's manufacturer warranty against defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships as a standard parcel.

Common questions

Can it run a heat lamp and a mister at the same time?

Yes – the two outputs are independent, one for your heating (or cooling) device and one for your humidifying device, provided each stays within the combined 1000 W rating.

Do I still need a separate thermostat?

No. The Hygrotherm is itself a temperature controller – plug your heat source into its heating output rather than running it through a separate thermostat as well.

Does the temperature drop automatically at night?

Yes. A built-in light sensor lowers the setpoint after dark and returns it in daylight, without needing a separate timer.

What happens if the power goes out?

The Hygrotherm retains your programmed settings through a power failure, so you don't need to reprogram it once power returns.
