Aquavitro Shrimp Pipes 5 pcs.
Five ceramic pipes shrimp can stack into their own hideout. Aquavitro Shrimp Pipes are a set of five ceramic tubes, each 1.3 x 1.3 x 5 cm, from Seachem's aquavitro shrimp care range. Stand them on end, lay them flat or scatter them through the scape - shrimp use the tubes as a bolt-hole when moulting or carrying eggs, and the ceramic surface grows the biofilm and fine algae they graze on.
Key features
- Five 1.3 x 1.3 x 5 cm ceramic pipes - small enough for shrimp and nano fish, too small for anything that could crush them.
- Stack any way you like - flat, pyramid or scattered, and rearranged whenever you rescape.
- Shelters shrimp during moulting - a soft new shell is the most vulnerable a shrimp gets, and a tight tube keeps it out of sight while it hardens.
- Seclusion for berried females - egg-carrying shrimp seek cover, and the pipes give them somewhere to retreat to.
- Doubles as a grazing surface - the ceramic grows biofilm and fine algae shrimp feed on as it establishes.
- Fresh and saltwater safe - aquavitro states the pipes may be used in either.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: freshwater and saltwater shrimp aquariums, nano and planted tanks, breeding setups where berried females need seclusion.
Not suitable for: tanks housing fish large or determined enough to hunt shrimp through an open-ended tube - the pipes offer refuge, not protection from a predator that can reach in.
Setting them up
Rinse under tap water before placing them in the aquarium, then arrange as desired. No cycling or curing is needed - biofilm and fine algae develop naturally on the ceramic surface over the following weeks as the tank matures.
Goes well with
- Aquavitro Shrimp Small Hut - an enclosed hide to pair with the open-ended pipes.
- Aquavitro Shrimp Stacks - a smaller companion pipe set for building a bigger interconnected refuge.
- Aquavitro Shrimp Stars - interlocking pieces that combine with the pipes into a larger structure.
Warranty and delivery
Aquavitro does not publish a warranty term for its ceramic shrimp decor. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply regardless. Ceramic pieces of this size ship as a standard parcel item.
Common questions
Do I need to rinse the pipes before adding them to my tank?
Yes. Aquavitro's instructions are to rinse under tap water, then place the pipes in the aquarium as desired.
Can I use Shrimp Pipes in a saltwater or reef tank?
Yes. Aquavitro states the ceramic pipes may be used in fresh and saltwater with no concerns noted for either.
Will the pipes need cleaning once they're in the tank?
Not for the shrimp's sake - they're designed to grow biofilm and fine algae as a grazing surface, so a light coating is the product doing its job.
Can I combine these with other aquavitro shrimp decor?
Yes. The pipes are designed to interconnect with the rest of the aquavitro shrimp range, including the Stacks, Stars, and the Small and Tall Hut.
