Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suits tetras, guppies, rasboras, barbs, gouramis and other tropical community fish. Not sized for large carnivores – for cichlids, oscars and similar predators, the Insectivore Large Tropical Carnivore Pellets are the better match.
Feeding directions
Feed once or twice a day, offering only what fish clear in 2–3 minutes. Remove uneaten flake rather than letting it settle and break down, which is the main way flake-fed tanks cloud up.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place and reseal the pack after each feed – flake absorbs moisture quickly once opened.
Goes well with
Pairs with Insectivore Mini Tropical Granules if the tank also holds fry or very small fish, and with API Stress Coat at water-change time.
Common questions
What's the difference between the 20 g and larger packs?
Same formula throughout – the 20 g pack is a trial size for a new tank or to test whether fish take to it before buying a larger pack.
Will this flake suit a mixed community tank?
Yes, it's formulated as a general tropical community staple rather than for one species.
Does flake lose nutritional value once the pack is opened?
Flake is more exposed to air and moisture than pellets, so it's worth using an opened pack within a few months and keeping it sealed and dry between feeds.
Can I feed this to goldfish?
It's formulated for tropical fish rather than coldwater goldfish – Insectivore Goldfish Pellets is the matching product for a goldfish tank.
