Insectivore Mini Tropical Granules 45gm
A micro granule sized for the smallest mouths in the tank. Insectivore Mini Tropical Granules are 0.5–1 mm insect-protein granules built for small tropical fish, fry and juveniles that a standard flake or pellet is too large for. They sink slowly into the mid-water zone where small schooling fish naturally feed.
Key features
- 0.5–1 mm micro granule – small enough for tetras, guppies and fry to take whole.
- Insect-led protein – black soldier fly larvae meal and mealworm meal, alongside fish hydrolysate and herring meal.
- Slow-sinking, mid-water action – suits fish that feed in open water rather than at the surface or substrate.
- Astaxanthin and spirulina included to support natural colour.
- 47% crude protein – higher than most standard flake, useful for growing fry.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suits tetras, guppies, rasboras, barbs, danios, and fry or juveniles of most tropical species. Not the right size for large carnivores or adult cichlids – for those, the Insectivore Large Tropical Carnivore Pellets are a better match.
Feeding directions
Feed once or twice a day, offering only what fish clear in a couple of minutes. Because the granule is small, it's easy to overfeed by volume without realising – a light pinch goes further than it looks.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place.
Goes well with
Works well as a fry-safe staple alongside Insectivore Tropical Flake Food for the rest of the tank, and with Marina Floating Glass Thermometer to keep an eye on conditions for fry, which are more sensitive to swings than adult fish.
Common questions
Is this suitable for fry?
Yes – the 0.5–1 mm granule size and higher protein level are aimed at small fish and fry that can't yet manage a standard flake or pellet.
Will this granule float or sink?
It sinks slowly, settling into mid-water rather than dropping straight to the substrate, so it suits fish that feed in open water.
How is this different from the Tropical Flake Food?
Same insect-led protein base, but in a small sinking granule rather than a floating flake – better suited to small-mouthed or mid-water feeding fish.
Can adult community fish eat this too?
Yes, though larger fish may find the granule less filling per feed than a standard pellet – it's sized primarily for small and juvenile fish.
