Radion Multi-Light RMS Rail

One rail, every light exactly where the coral needs it.

The Radion Multi-Light RMS Track is the anodised aluminium spine of EcoTech Marine's modular mounting system, carrying two or more Radion XR15 or XR30 fixtures above a single aquarium. It comes in eight lengths, from 52.1 cm to 229.9 cm, and you choose by the width of the tank it has to straddle rather than by how many lights you own. The arms and the slides are separate purchases.

Key features
  • Eight lengths, 52.1 cm to 229.9 cm – each one specified by EcoTech against a tank width range, so the track overhangs correctly instead of being cut down on site.
  • Anodised aluminium – rigid and light, which is what lets the long spans carry several fixtures between just two arms.
  • Fixtures slide and rotate – each Radion moves along the track and turns on its slide, so you can put light over the rockwork rather than over the middle of the glass.
  • XR15 and XR30 on the same track – mixed fixtures are fine, each on the slide made for it.
  • Sits about 18 cm above the tank edge – EcoTech's stated optimal mounting height for Radions on the Multi-Light RMS.
  • Modular, so it grows – adding a fourth light means buying a fourth slide, not a new mount.
Which rail length do I need?

Measure the outside width of the aquarium and match it to the range below. Length is chosen by tank width, not by fixture count.

Size option Part number Rail length Suits tank width
52cm XR703-0205 52.1 cm (20.5 in) 47.0–72.4 cm (18.5–28.5 in)
77cm XR703-0305 77.5 cm (30.5 in) 72.4–97.8 cm (28.5–38.5 in)
102cm XR703-0405 102.9 cm (40.5 in) 97.8–123.2 cm (38.5–48.5 in)
128cm XR703-0505 128.3 cm (50.5 in) 123.2–148.6 cm (48.5–58.5 in)
153cm XR703-0605 153.7 cm (60.5 in) 148.6–174.0 cm (58.5–68.5 in)
179cm XR703-0705 179.1 cm (70.5 in) 174.0–199.4 cm (68.5–78.5 in)
204cm XR703-0805 204.5 cm (80.5 in) 199.4–224.8 cm (78.5–88.5 in)
230cm XR703-0905 229.9 cm (90.5 in) 224.8–250.2 cm (88.5–98.5 in)

EcoTech does not publish a maximum number of fixtures per rail for this part number series, so we do not state one. If you are planning three or more lights on one track, tell us the tank width and the fixture mix and we will work through the spacing with you before you order.

Not included

  • The Radion fixtures themselves.
  • Ceiling suspension hardware, if you want to hang the track instead of clamping it to the tank.
How the Multi-Light RMS goes together

EcoTech sells this mount as three parts, bought separately. Every page in the family carries the same table so you can see what is still missing from your basket.

Part What it does How many you need
Part A – RMS Track Spans the tank and carries the fixtures One, sized to tank width
Part B – RMS Arms Two vertical arms that clamp to the tank and hold the track up One kit of two arms
Part C – RMS Slides Attaches each Radion to the track and lets it slide and rotate One per fixture
Will it fit my tank?

Two measurements decide it, and both are worth taking before you order.

First, the outside width of the aquarium has to fall inside the range in the table above. Second, the tank trim has to be no thicker than 34.9 mm (1 3/8 in), which is the clamping limit of the arms. Rimmed, rimless and euro-braced tanks are all catered for.

Then look up. The 18 cm mounting height is measured from the edge of the tank, not from the water surface, so your freeboard adds to it. If there is a canopy, a low ceiling or a shelf above the tank, check that clearance before committing to a tank-clamped mount.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for:

  • Running two or more Radions over one aquarium from a single mount
  • Tanks between 47 cm and 250 cm wide
  • Mixed XR15 and XR30 setups
  • Rimmed, rimless and euro-braced tanks with trim to 34.9 mm

Not suitable for:

  • A single fixture – the RMS Tank Mounting System or a hanging kit is the cheaper answer
  • Tanks narrower than 47 cm or wider than 250 cm
  • Non-Radion fixtures – the slides are made for Radion housings
  • Ceiling suspension out of the box; that needs EcoTech's separate RMS hanging kit as well as this track
Care and maintenance

Anodised aluminium sitting 18 cm above saltwater will collect salt creep. Wipe the track down with a damp cloth and dry it whenever you clean the glass, and pay attention to where the slides ride, because dried salt makes them stiff and gritty to move.

Check the arm clamps every few months. Do not over-tighten them – EcoTech warns that over-tightening can damage the tank as well as the mount.

Goes well with
Warranty and delivery

EcoTech Marine warrants the mounting system and parts for 30 days from purchase against manufacturing defects and workmanship. That is a short term by the standards of the rest of the Radion range, and worth knowing before you buy. It applies in addition to the consumer guarantees you have under Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.

EcoTech handles warranty service outside the United States through the local distributor, so Australian claims come back through us rather than going direct to EcoTech.

The 204 cm and 230 cm tracks are over two metres long and ship as an oversize item. The shorter lengths ship normally.

Common questions

Does the RMS track come with the arms and slides?

No. The EcoTech Multi-Light RMS is sold as three separate parts – the track, an arms kit, and one slide per fixture. A track on its own cannot be assembled into a working mount.

How many Radions will fit on one track?

EcoTech does not publish a fixture count for this part number series, only the tank width each length suits. Rather than guess, we would rather work it out with you against your actual tank width and fixture mix.

Can I put an XR15 and an XR30 on the same rail?

Yes. Both fixture sizes run on a single Multi-Light RMS track, provided each one has the slide made for it – the XR15 slide and the XR30 slide are different parts.

How high above the water does it sit?

EcoTech states approximately 18 cm (7 in) above the edge of the tank as the optimal mounting height for Radions on the Multi-Light RMS. Because that is measured from the tank edge rather than the water surface, the actual distance to the water is 18 cm plus your freeboard.

Will it work on a rimless tank?

Yes. The RMS arms are specified for rimmed, rimless and euro-braced tanks, with a trim thickness limit of 34.9 mm (1 3/8 in).

Can I hang the track from the ceiling instead?

Yes, but not with this part alone. EcoTech makes a separate RMS hanging kit that suspends a track and its slides where tank-clamped arms are not an option. The track is still required.
