Radion RMS Arms Kit
The two arms that take the whole weight off your cabinet.
The Radion RMS Arms Kit is Part B of EcoTech Marine's Multi-Light RMS mounting system: a pair of anodised aluminium uprights that clamp onto the aquarium and hold the RMS track above it. One kit does one tank, whether that track ends up carrying two Radions or six. The track and the slides are bought separately.
Key features
- Two arms per kit – one for each end of the track, which is all a single tank needs.
- Clamps trim up to 34.9 mm (1 3/8 in) – a hard number, so you can measure your trim and know before you order.
- Rimmed, rimless and euro-braced – the clamp is specified for all three, with a protective gasket between the clamp and the glass.
- Built-in cable management – the Radion leads run inside the arm rather than swinging behind the tank.
- Holds fixtures about 18 cm above the tank – EcoTech's stated optimal height for Radions on the RMS.
- Anodised aluminium – rigid enough to carry a fully loaded track without flexing.

How the Multi-Light RMS goes together
EcoTech sells this mount as three parts, bought separately. Every page in the family carries the same table so you can see what is still missing from your basket.
| Part | What it does | How many you need |
|---|---|---|
| Part A – RMS Track | Spans the tank and carries the fixtures | One, sized to tank width |
| Part B – RMS Arms | Two vertical arms that clamp to the tank and hold the track up | One kit of two arms |
| Part C – RMS Slides | Attaches each Radion to the track and lets it slide and rotate | One per fixture |
Will it fit my tank?
Get a vernier or a ruler onto the tank trim before you order. The clamp opens to 34.9 mm (1 3/8 in) and no further, and that single measurement is the most common reason an RMS arm does not fit a tank it was expected to.
On a rimless tank the clamp grips the bare glass with the gasket in between. On a rimmed or euro-braced tank it grips the trim, so measure the trim, not the glass.
EcoTech's manual is explicit about not over-tightening the clamp: too much force can damage the aquarium as well as the mount. Snug is the target, not tight.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for:
- Building a Multi-Light RMS on a tank with trim up to 34.9 mm
- Rimmed, rimless and euro-braced aquariums
- Radion XR15 and XR30 fixtures in any mix
- Setups where you want the cabling tidied into the mount
Not suitable for:
- Tank trim thicker than 34.9 mm
- Tanks in a cabinet or alcove that blocks access to the rim
- Ceiling-suspended installations – EcoTech's separate RMS hanging kit replaces the arms in that case
- Use without a track and slides; the arms alone hold nothing
Care and maintenance
Check the clamp tension a week after installation and then every few months. Anodised aluminium above a reef tank picks up salt creep, so wipe the arms down and dry them when you do the glass.
If you take the mount off for a tank move, keep the protective gasket. It is what stops the clamp bearing directly on glass.
Goes well with
- RMS Track – required, sized to your tank width
- RMS G6/G5 Slide – required, one per fixture
- Radion G6/G5 Diffuser – evens out the light once the fixtures are in a row
- RMS Tank Mounting System – the self-contained single-light option
Warranty and delivery
EcoTech Marine warrants the mounting system and parts for 30 days from purchase against manufacturing defects and workmanship. This is in addition to the consumer guarantees you have under Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded by a manufacturer's warranty term.
EcoTech directs international warranty service through the local distributor, so Australian claims come back through us. The arms ship as a standard parcel.
Common questions
How many arms come in the kit?
Two. The EcoTech RMS Arm Kit contains the two vertical arms that mount to the tank and support the RMS track, which is one kit per aquarium regardless of how many Radions the track carries.
What is the thickest tank trim the arms will clamp?
34.9 mm, which EcoTech states as 1 3/8 inches. Measure the trim itself rather than the glass, because on a rimmed or euro-braced tank the clamp closes onto the trim.
Do I need arms if I already have the track?
Yes, unless you are suspending the track from the ceiling. The Multi-Light RMS needs all three parts – track, arms and one slide per fixture – and the arms are what transfer the load to the aquarium.
Will one kit hold six Radions?
One arm kit supports one track, and the track carries the fixtures. EcoTech does not publish a load rating or a maximum fixture count for the RMS, so for a heavily loaded track it is worth talking the layout through with us first.
Can I use these arms on a rimless tank?
Yes. EcoTech specifies the RMS arms for rimmed, rimless and euro-braced aquariums, and a protective gasket sits between the edge clamp and the glass.
