Insectivore Holiday Block 33g
One block, up to a fortnight of feeding, no fish sitter required. The Insectivore Holiday Block is a compressed, slow-dissolving block that releases food gradually into the tank, so fish are fed steadily while the tank is unattended – no over-generous pinches of flake from a well-meaning neighbour.
Key features
- Feeds up to 14 days from a single 33 g block, suited to a community tank of around 20–25 fish.
- Insect-led protein – mealworm meal and black soldier fly meal sit alongside whole pea, mycoprotein and sun-dried daphnia.
- Zeolite and calcium sulphate hemihydrate bind the block and slow its dissolve rate, rather than acting as fillers.
- Natural astaxanthin and spirulina powder included for colour support.
- Suits all freshwater species, including goldfish and tropical community fish.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suits all freshwater aquarium species as a short-term substitute for normal feeding, including goldfish and community tropical fish. Not intended as an everyday food – it's a holiday and travel product, not a replacement for the tank's regular flake or pellet.
How to use it
Drop one block into the aquarium before leaving and it will dissolve gradually, feeding the tank for up to 14 days. Don't add any other food while the block is active, since the two together can overfeed the tank. If it's the first time using one, test a block a week or two beforehand to see how quickly it dissolves in your own water – dissolve rate varies with temperature and flow. On return, remove any remnants and do a partial water change.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place.
Goes well with
For trips of three days or less, a Weekend Block is the better match – it dissolves faster and doesn't overfeed a short absence. Also pairs with Insectivore Goldfish Pellets or Insectivore Tropical Flake Food as the everyday food either side of the trip.
Common questions
How long will one block last?
Up to 14 days for a community tank of around 20–25 fish, though actual dissolve time depends on water temperature and flow.
Should I still do a water change while I'm away?
If nobody is checking the tank, skip it – the block is designed to avoid the need for anyone to intervene. Do a partial water change once you're back.
Can I use this instead of feeding normally?
Only for the trip itself. It's formulated for temporary, unattended feeding, not an everyday replacement for flake or pellet food.
What if the block hasn't fully dissolved when I get home?
Remove what's left rather than leaving it to break down further in the tank, and return to normal feeding.
