Three measurements decide it.

• Rim or trim thickness — the clamp accepts up to 35 mm. Braced tanks with a wide plastic trim are the ones to check first.
• Clearance above the rim — allow 33 cm. A cabinet hood or a low shelf above the tank will rule the mount out.
• Space behind the tank — the clamp sits over the back rim, so the tank cannot stand hard against the wall.

EcoTech do not publish a single figure for how high the arm holds the fixture above the rim, and the figures quoted by resellers disagree with each other. Measure the clearance in your own cabinet rather than working from a quoted height.

Suitable for:

• Rimmed and rimless glass tanks with a rim up to 35 mm thick
• Single-fixture installations over one tank
• Owners moving from a G3 or G4 Radion to a G5 or G6 who want a current mount

Not suitable for:

• Carrying two or more fixtures — that needs the multi-light track system
• Mixing sizes: the XR15 kit will not take an XR30, and the XR30 kit will not take an XR15
• Tanks with less than 33 cm of clear space above the rim
• Ceiling suspension, which is what the hanging kits are for

EcoTech warn specifically against over-tightening the clamp, because too much force can damage the tank or the RMS assembly itself. Tighten it firmly by hand and stop there. Check the clamp again a week after install, and after any water change that involves moving the light.

EcoTech Marine warrant this mount for 12 months from the date of original purchase, and require the product to be registered with them within 30 days of purchase for that warranty to take effect. The manufacturer warranty applies in addition to the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law, which are not limited by it.

Do I need the Gen5 Adapter Kit as well?

No. The current Radion RMS Tank Mount ships with the G5/G6 X-bracket already, so a G5 or G6 fixture mounts straight to it. The separate Gen5 Adapter Kit exists only to update an older G4-era RMS so that it will accept a G5 or G6 light.

Will it hold my older G4 Radion?

Yes. EcoTech state that the single-mount RMS kits for the XR15 and XR30 also work with all previous models of Radion, so a G3 or G4 fixture mounts on the same kit.

Can I put two Radions on one kit?

No. Each Radion RMS Tank Mount kit carries exactly one fixture. Two or more lights over one tank need the multi-light RMS system, which is a track, a pair of arms and one slide per fixture.

Does the XR15 kit fit an XR30?

No. XR719-15 mounts an XR15 only and XR719-30 mounts an XR30 only, because the X-bracket differs between them. The size you order has to match the fixture you own.

Are the rails included, or are they extra?

The rails are included. EcoTech's parts list for the RMS Tank Mount covers the sliding rail, X-bracket, formed arm, adjustment screw, clamp chop, spacer and edge clamp, and the XR15 kit ships with two sliding rails.

What rim thickness will the clamp take?

Up to 35 mm (1-3/8 in) of rim or trim. You also need 33 cm (13 in) of clear space above the rim for the assembly, and the tank has to stand far enough off the wall for the clamp to sit over the back rim.
